DEEWR's Monthly Leading Indicator of Employment
(Indicator) has risen for the third consecutive month in April
2011, after two consecutive monthly falls previously. It is too
early to confirm that the pace of employment growth is rising to
above its (revised) long-term trend rate of 2.2 per cent per annum,
because the Indicator has risen for fewer than six consecutive
months. In contrast, cyclical employment has fallen for the third
consecutive month in April.
