Media Release - New opportunities and responsibilities for the very long term unemployed

The National Employment Services Association Practitioners Conference today heard that Australians who have been unemployed for more than two years will be afforded new opportunities and face new responsibilities under initiatives in the 2011-12 Budget. Minister for Employment Participation and Child Care Kate Ellis addressed the conference in Melbourne, saying that as Australia heads towards a projected unemployment rate of 4.5 per cent, the country is faced with a unique chance to transform the lives of the very long term unemployed.
