Capital Fund - Australian Disability Enterprises –– Commencement of the Selection Process

Date published : 5  September  2011

The Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Carers, Senator the Hon Jan McLucas, has announced the commencement of the Selection Process for the Capital Fund for Australian Disability Enterprises.

Speaking at the NDS Employment Forum in Sydney this morning, Senator McLucas said that the final Selection Criteria would be available from the FaHCSIA website from today.  Applications must be submitted by 7 October 2011. Only Australian Disability Enterprises funded by the Australian Government for employment assistance are eligible to apply.

Priority will be given to organisations with fewer than 100 workers with disability and organisations in regional, rural and remote areas. The maximum amount of capital funding to be granted per organisation will be $20,000 (ex GST).  Organisations will need to demonstrate how the purchase will increase the business viability of the enterprise.  The capital fund aims to deliver innovation in employment outcomes and encourage broader skill development and wider career options for people with disability in Australian Disability Enterprises.

All details relating to the Selection Process for the Capital Fund, including an Application Form and the Selection Criteria, are now available on the FaHCSIA website.

During the Application Period, applicants can email questions to capfund@fahcsia.gov.au.  A list of Questions and Answers will be made available on the Department's website.  Responses to questions of interest to all applicants may be added to the list during the Application Period.
