FaHCSIA: Advisory Group - Vision for Sustainable Supported Employment

This repor t contains an outline of the vision, specific recommendations on how it can be
achieved and suggestions for fur ther initiatives. Appendix 1 contains details about the
membership of the Advisory Group and its terms of reference.

Par t I explains why we need a new vision for suppor ted employment at this time and
signposts some of the international and domestic developments that are driving the need
for change. It gives essential background to the reform process in the sector generally
and to the process that led to fundamental concepts underlying this repor t; consolidates
the recommendations; and raises some of the overarching issues and concerns that this
sector has faced, and will continue to face, until there is meaningful change.

Par t I I looks in more detail at what realisation of the vision will mean 10 years now
in each of seven priority outcome areas. After a brief description of the results of the
consultation process, under the heading ' What did we learn?', the challenges and
issues in implementing each of the seven specific approaches are described. Each
section concludes with the recommendation that applies to a par ticular area, and lists
some initiatives or shor t-term actions that government should consider for immediate
implementation.
