The Australian Government took the next step to strengthen
employment services for job seekers with disability today. In the
2011-12 Budget the Australian Government announced unprecedented
investment in these services and confirmed a competitive tender
process for Disability Employment Services- Employment Support
Service would be undertaken. Speaking at Northern Futures in
Adelaide, Minister for Employment Participation Kate Ellis said
that the decision to tender for these services was made with the
interests of people with disability at the very centre of the
Government's thinking. "Our Government's historic decision to uncap
Disability Employment Services has meant that more people with
disability than ever before are receiving assistance to help them
to find and keep a job," Ms Ellis said. "I firmly believe that as
we invest more than ever before and unveil more programs and
assistance - we should also demand that people with disability have
access to the very best possible services."
