A $25 million fund to help local people fight joblessness and
poverty was launched by the Gillard Labor Government today.
Minister for Human Services Senator Kim Carr called on community
organisations in the selected regions to help put the Local
Solutions Fund to work. "The entrenched disadvantage in our society
has meant that lots of people are missing out on the opportunities
this country can provide. They are entitled to a fair go; and they
are entitled to the government and community services that help
make it possible," Senator Carr said.
